How safe is COMF?

COMF is a safe place to meet and connect with other singles on-line. No personal details other than your first name and location are disclosed. The good thing about COMF is that you are in control of how much information you give out. If you trust someone and decide to meet that person outside of the COMF site you need to exercise commonsense. For more information read our words on Safety and Site Etiquette. Who uses this site?

Anyone who is single or has a single friend can sign up. The only age restriction is you have to be 18 years or older. Any sexual preferences are welcome here.

Forgotten your login details?

On the home page where you log in there is a link to 'forgotten password'. Click this & we'll reset your password and e-mail it to you.

How much does it cost to join?

Currently the website is free to join and will remain so till we feel we've got a reasonable number of single people for you to meet. We can't eat baked beans forever, but we'll give you plenty of notice before we do start charging. It won't be a rip off either. One months membership will be cheaper than a round of drinks (i.e less than $30/mth). Don't muck around joining though, this really is the more the merrier!

When we do start charging you will always be able to register a 'free' profile. It just means that 'free' accounts won't have the ability to send unlimited private messages.

What should I write about my single mate? - Profile help

Remember to be honest! Your role as wingman is not only to talk-up your friend's best traits, but also to portray a realistic picture - remember no one is perfect! Keep it light-hearted. Any funny insights into your friend's character is what you're trying to get across. It's not meant to be a novel, - just an enlightening synopsis of your friend to provoke interest without the cliches! You could also talk about:

• your friend's best characteristics
• what you'll find them doing in their spare time
• any funny idiosyncrasies/stories
• their ideal guy/woman

What do the different icons mean, and how do I work them?

• My little black book - Here you can keep track of 'who you fancy' - a private area where you can add members you like the look of for easy reference. You can also keep track of members with 'bookmarks' - use this when you are searching for potentials but don't have time to check them out fully now. It's a reminder of who you MIGHT like to get winking at/messaging. 'Winks/Messages' is where you keep track of who's winked/messaged you, or who you have winked/messaged at. 'Friends suggestions' is where your mates are matchmaking and you can find any members your mates think you should investigate further! 'Blocks & declines' is where you can block someone from your searches or make a graceful decline. If you block someone it's private and the person you've blocked won't know. If you want to escalate an issue or think that a member is abusing the site in anyway, or have made you feel uncomfortable you can report them & we will follow it up a.s.a.p!
• What's a wink? - you can send a wink if you like the look of someone. The person you sent it to will get notification that you've winked at them. It's the first step to letting someone know you might be keen to take it further.
• My mates - this is where you can keep tabs on what your wingman has said about you, and what you've said about your single friends. 
• Mail - here you can keep track of your messages, send messages, etc
• My profile - allows you options such as seeing what your profile looks like on the site, editing functions, and approve wingmen's comments & photos

How can I suspend/cancel my profile?

To make your profile live on the site or remove it from being displayed, head to:
'My homepage' - 'My profile' - 'edit'. Here there is an option to take your profile 'offline'
To cancel your profile permanently please e-mail us at admin@checkoutmyfriend.co.nz & put 'delete profile' in the subject line.

Can my profile be put up without my permission?

No way - that would not be the go! Your profile needs your permission before it goes live on the site. You also get the chance to respond to your friends words. If you are not happy with the comments your friend has made, ask them to change the description by logging in and changing it from their end.
We review all content (including photos) so if we suspect anything dodgy then we will follow it up quick smart.

How do I contact the COMF team?

For any admin or Press queries please contact admin@checkoutmyfriend.co.nz. To report any abuse, please hit the report button on the member in questions profile, or email us at the above address. Any comments about another member is kept is the strictest confidence.

How do I change my password?

Your user name is your e-mail address. You can change your password in the 'My Homepage' section too.

What do you do with my personal details?

Your personal details are secure on our database and are kept completely confidential. We may however use your details to help refine any future advertising on the site. By doing this it helps us ensure that any advertising is relevant to you and hopefully worth looking at!

How do I edit a profile

I'm the single person and I want to edit my personal details or approve what my wingman has said. Go to:
My homepage - My Single Profile - Edit Profile
I'm the wingman and I want to make comments on my mate's profile. Go to:
My Homepage - My mates, from there you can choose which mate you want to comment on as a wingman.

Does the single person get a say as well?

Absolutely! If you're single head to 'My single profile' and hit the 'Reply' button. This where you can add anything you think your friend may have missed. e.g. The type of partner you're after. Any likes and dislikes etc.
